Selected Past Projects

From short-term projects with an internal team to large-scale, interconnected experiences produced with multiple consultants, I’m proud to have served as the project lead for a range of user-focused efforts for non-profits and museums.

Obama Presidential Center

Digital Experience Strategy Development

Within months of starting work on the Obama Presidential Center, I proposed developing a comprehensive digital experience strategy to connect with visitors before, during, and after their time on campus. With approval to move forward, I led RFP development, partner selection and contracting, and managed the project, resulting in a defined understanding of goals, potential products for future development, and necessary technical infrastructure. This initial work later informed a digital strategy for the Obama Foundation more broadly, with the goal of using digital tools to enable the public to see themselves as capable of making change in their own communities.

OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CENTER

Wayfinding & Signage Design

For the Obama Presidential Center’s 19-acre campus, wayfinding will be critical to helping visitors navigate space, available services, and content. I led a wayfinding strategy scope of work with a consulting partner, and managed design development for interior and exterior directional signage, digital signage, informational signage, interpretive signage outside the museum galleries, and planning for integrated branded graphics and print materials.

OBAMA FOUNDATION

Website Reconcepting

In connection with updated branding developed by Manual Creative for the Obama Foundation and a new digital strategy, I served as the internal project lead for creating an updated vision for Obama.org including defining shared responsibilities between in-house and external product managers, designers, and software engineers. In collaboration with digital design partners at Work & Co, our team developed a phased approach to accommodate a near-term release of the new brand, while anticipating future user needs ahead of the opening of the Obama Presidential Center.

FIELD MUSEUM

Website Rebrand

Working from new brand work developed by Leo Burnett, I managed scoping, contracting, design, and implementation of an updated FieldMuseum.org. The updated Drupal site included more than 100 pages of updated content based on new voice and tone guidelines and a revised user-focused site architecture. Team members at Purple Rock Scissors worked closely with Prime Access Consulting to ensure the site meets WCAG standards for accessibility.

Field Museum

New Web Publishing Process

After inheriting an unmoderated website with inconsistent branding and accessibility problems, I iteratively instituted new content request processes, staff training, and review standards. Implementing these changes ahead of redesigning the website supported a simpler content development process during and post-rebranding.

Inaugural Audio Guide

I led the creation of Museum’s first audio guide offerings and associated apps for iOS and Android, working with a team at Acoustiguide. For the May 2014 launch, offerings included the “Witnessing History” tour narrated by Robert DeNiro and translated into eight languages, an architecture-focused tour, a tour for children, an American Sign Language tour, and an audio description tour developed with the the Institute for Human-Centered Design.
